2040 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN JOINT MEETING
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2017
CITY HALL ONEKA ROOM
PRESENT: Klein, Petryk, Miron, Weidt
ABSENT: Haas
ALSO PRESENT: Landform Planner Kendra Lindahl, Landform Planner Mary Matze, City
Administrator Bryan Bear, City Engineer Mark Erichson, Planner Rachel Juba, Community
Development Assistant Rachel Leitz, Parks Planner Shayla Denaway.
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by Mayor Weidt.
The workshop was held jointly with members of the Planning Commission, EDA, Historical
Commission, and Parks Commission for the purpose of kicking -off the 2040 Comprehensive
Plan Update. A presentation was made by Lindahl outlining the statutory requirements,
Metropolitan Council submittal requirements, and major themes from the 2008 update. Small
group discussions were conducted focusing on Hugo's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and
threats followed by a large group discussion and summary of major themes. These discussions
led to the developing a draft of the 2040 Comprehensive Plan Vision. The meeting adjourned at
approximately 8:30 pm.
