Mr. Kieth Iverson of the Sussel Corp. on behalf of James and Beth
Mitchell , has applied to the City of Hugo for at variance to the rear yard
setback from 30 ft. to 24 ft. at the residence located at 14964 Foxhill
Ave. The Mitchell ' s are proposing an addition to the rear of their
existing residence. The property is zoned SFU ( 10,400 sq . ft. ) .
Mr. Iverson represented the Mitchells with regard to this request. He
stated that they are proposing the addition to their kitchen area and
family room. Area resident Leon Muellner questioned whether a deck would
be constructed after the addition is complete. Mr. Iverson informed the
audience that any deck would be constructed to the north of the addition
and would not approach the east property line any further.
Motion made by Barnes, seconded by Olson to recommend approval of the
request for a variance to the rear yard setback to 24 ft. for James and
Beth Mitchell , 14964 Foxhill Ave. to construct an addition to their
existing home.

are also requesting a variance to construct a garage 816 sq . ft. rather
than the allowed 720 sq . ft. The proposed garage will be used for
personal storage only . The property is zoned conservancy and agriculture.
Mr. Elsola stated that the building site at 160 ft. setback is at more
aesthetically pleasing location for the home and also, theDNR requires a
150 ft. setback from the lake.
Members of the zoning board felt there was no valid hardship to the land
which would require a variance. They did feel the request for the
oversized garage was a reasonable request.
Motion made by Olson , seconded by Barnes to recommend denial of the
variance request of Robert Elsola to construct a residence 160 ft . from
the ordinary high water mark of South School Section Lake (aka 12680
