Chairman Bob Olson called to meeting to order at 6:30 PM.
PRESENT: Bob Olson and Bob Ellman
Secretary, Mary Ann Creager
Mr. Richard Clauson has made application to the City of Hugo to construct
a pole barn on at five acre tract of land located at 6857 170th Street
North, Hugo, MN' The property in question is zoned agriculture, and Mr.
Clauson has indicated that the pole barn will be used for farm and other
related storage. It should be noted that the lot in question is
non-conforming , and is substandard in both lot width, as well as lot area.
Mr. Clauson is requesting to construct a 36' x 64' pole barn 8' from the
west property line. Mr. Clauson has stated that the layout of the
building will allow room on the east side to leave at parking and
turn-around area, trees for at tree farm and wind break , as well as
drainage ditch leading to the pond in the back . Also, it will allow him
to over look the back of his property rather than looking at the pole
building from his house.
Ellman made motion , Olson seconded , to recommend approval of the variance
request of Mr. Richard Clauson , 6857 170th Street, to construct a 36' x
64' pole barn 8' from the west property line. This variance is
recommended because of the existing trees and drainage on the east
property line.
All aye. Motion Carried .
Mr. Therman Creager, of 12203 Ingersoll Avenue North, has made application
to the City of Hugo to construct a 24 ' if 60' pole building closer to
Ingersoll Avenue than the principal building . The pole building is to be
used for the storage of personal property, and there will be no commercial
or industrial use of the building . The property in question is zoned RR2,
and consists of approximateIy 7 acres' The proposed improvement is on a
lot which has lakeshore on Round Lake, however, the building in question
meets all of the required shoreland setback requirements. Currently,
there is a home and an unattached garage located at the north end of Lot
3, Block 1 , Arcand Estates. The proposed building meets all front and
side yard setbacks, but does not conform to that section of the code which
requires no garage or accessory building to be located between the house
and the road . The City Council has, typically , granted variances of this
nature in areas where the lots exceeded three acres in size, and meet all
other setback requirements.
Olson made motion , Ellman seconded , to recommend approval of the variance
request of Tom Cr-eager, 12203 Ingersoll Avenue, for the construction of at
24' if 60' pole building 40' from the right-of-way on Ingersoll Avenue.
This variance is recommended because of existing trees and the steep grade
Ki Round Lake.
All aye. Motion Carried .
Olson made motion , Ellman seconded , to adjourn at 6:45 PM.,
Alia e M ried .
