Update on Downtown Redevelopment 6:00 pm 8. Adjournment BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE EDA MEETING OF TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2016 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the August 16, 2016, EDA meeting as presented. 4. UPDATE ON WASHINGTON COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Over the last few months a work group of economic development staff of Washington County cities has been meeting. Chris Eng, Economic Development Director at Washington County has been hosting the meetings. The group has been working on prioritizing possible economic development efforts for the County. The County has also invited speakers to present to the work group, some include representatives from DEED Office of Business Development and Xcel Energy. Staff will provide an update to the EDA on the meetings. 5. UPDATE ON RUSH LINE CORRIDOR Staff has been attending the Rush Line Corridor Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meetings. They are closer to identifying a locally preferred alternative (LPA), or a route and mode for the corridor. Staff will present information to the EDA on the route and mode options for the corridor. Staff is not looking for a formal recommendation at this time. 6. UPDATE ON RAIL LINE Staff will provide an update to the EDA on the rail line. 7. UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT Staff will provide an update to the EDA on downtown redevelopment. MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF AUGUST 16, 2016 Chair Weidt called the meeting to order at 5:02 pm. PRESENT: Denaway, Gallivan, Klein, Petty, Puleo, Weidt. ABSENT: Houle. STAFF: Bryan Bear, City Administrator Rachel Juba, Planner Rachel Leitz, Community Development Assistant APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF JUNE 21, 2016 Klein made motion, Puleo seconded, to approve minutes for the EDA meeting of June 21, 2016. All Ayes. Motion carried. UPDATE ON WASHINGTON COUNTY ECONOMOC DEVELOPMENT Chris Eng, Washington County Economic Development Director, spoke to the EDA. He stated that Washington County Community Development Authority's vision is to ensure that programs and services support and complement economic development programs initiated by cities, townships and the County. He stated that Washington County has room to improve on marketing and described some events the County will be participating in to market the County as a whole. He stated that he is excited to work with all cities and help them with their economic development goals and help businesses locate to Washington County. DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT Staff provided an update to the EDA on downtown redevelopment. ADJOURNMENT Klein made a motion, seconded by Petty, to adjourn at 5:48 p.m. All ayes.
