TUESDAY, JULY 17, 2018
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the June 19, 2018, EDA meeting as presented.
4. DISCUSSION ON ECONOMIC WORK PLAN WITH CHRIS ENG
Staff would like to start the process for an economic development work plan, with help from Chris Eng
from Washington County CDA. The EDA has previously prepared work plans in regards to economic
development efforts. These plan are now out of date. The EDA does set goals each year that are usually
ongoing activities. Staff would like discuss short term goals and action steps to achieve these goals.
The work plan focus includes identifying and setting short term goals for economic development as well
as plans to achieve set goals through action steps and deliverables. Progress and success of plan will be
regularly reported to EDA. Chris Eng will present to the EDA on the work plan at the meeting.
5. APPOINTMENT OF EDA COMMISIONER TO HOPKINS SCHOOLHOUSE SUBCOMITEE
During the July 2, 2018 meeting, members of the City Council approved a request from the City's
Historical Commission to form a committee tasked with addressing a number of items related to the
Hopkins Schoolhouse. These items include repair of the roof, evaluating public and private partnerships,
as well as pursuing listing on the National Register. Staff recommends the EDA Council to appoint a
member to be on the Hopkins Schoolhouse Committee. The Council will formally appoint committee
members at their August 6, 2018, City Council meeting.
6. UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT
Staff will provide an update on downtown redevelopment at the meeting.

Economic Development Authority (EDA)
Approved by the EDA at its Tuesday, January 16, 2018, meeting
*Continue strategic plan to market the City owned property in
downtown
*Reach out to commercial real estate brokers to promote
redevelpoment of the Egg Lake Property
•Assist and encourage redevelopment of other properties in
downtown
•Evaluate broker options for City owned property
•Continue low development costs
*Continue partnering with local businesses
*Continue business visits
*Encourage the extension of high speed internet through -out the
City
*Continue memberships of economic devleopment associations
•Encourage moving forward with installing City entrance
monument signs
-Encourage businesses to identify themselves as being located in
Hugo
*Review Economic Development section and make
recommendations for changes and improvements
•Continue partnering with local businesses
*Continue to partner with Washington County on its Economic
Development Strategic Plan
•Invite Economic Development experts to EDA meetings for
education and training on certain topics
*Meet with property owners with property for sale to see if
there is any way the City can help
