NEIGHBORHOOD METING ON
PROPOSED PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4, 2020 – 7:00 P.M.

STAFF PRESENT: City Administrator Bryan Bear, Public Works Director Scott Anderson,
The City held a neighbor meeting in the Oneka Room at City Hall on a potential new Public
Works facility to be located on property known as Irish Avenue Park. City Administrator Bryan
Bear began by providing background on the park informing residents it was once a gravel pit and
the City had been in litigation with the owner/operator of the pit in 2008 to have the site reclaimed
in accordance with the Conditional Use Permit. The City then purchased it in 2009 for $900,000.
Public Works Director talked about the current Public Works facility explaining the need for
expansion and the inability to accommodate long term needs beyond 15 years at its current
location. He shared the study done on the construction of a brand new facility on 10-15 acres of
the 125 acres owned by the City, which would better fit the City’s needs. Residents shared their
thoughts and asked questions, and they were encouraged to become involved in the future master
planning of the park.
