HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020.06.18 CC Minutes -Neighborhood Meeting on Proposed Public Works Facility Minutes HUGO CITY COUNCIL NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING ON PROPOSED PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY REMOTE MEETING MONDAY, JUNE 18, 2020 – 7:00 P.M. Meeting was held remotely pursuant to MN Statute Sec. 13D.021 Mayor Weidt called the workshop to order at 7 p.m. COUNCIL PRESENT REMOTELY: Klein, Miron, Petryk, Weidt PARKS COMMISSIONERS PRESENT REMOTELY: Strub, Tennyson OTHERS PRESENT REMOTELY: Public Works Director Scott Anderson PRESENT AT CITY HALL: City Administrator Bryan Bear, Parks Planner Shayla Denaway, Community Development Director Rachel Juba, Community Development Assistant Emily Weber City Administrator Bryan Bear provided a history of the Irish Avenue Park property. Prior to 2007, the property was used as gravel pit. The City purchased the property in 2009 and cleaned up the site. A neighborhood meeting was held in 2009 to discuss the long-term and short-term park uses of the property. Public Works Director Scott Anderson provided a summary of the facility needs study completed in February. Community Development Director Rachel Juba reviewed the site plan application for the public works facility at the south side of Irish Avenue Park. The public service building is allowed in the zoning district as a permitted use. Residents shared their thoughts and asked questions, and they were encouraged to continue to work with staff directly as the project proceeds.
