APPROVING A VARIANCE FROM THE MAXIMUM BUILDING HEIGHT FOR
A TRANSMISSION TRAINING LINE ON PROPERTY LOCATED AT 13620
FENWAY BOULEVARD
WHEREAS, Xcel Energy has requested approval of a variance to allow transmission
training poles to be up to 72 feet in height, where 50 feet is required by ordinance:
See Attached
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed said variance at a duly called public
hearing on March 25, 2021, and recommends approval with the following findings and
conditions:
1. The proposed facilities shall be in adherence to the site plan dated February 5,
2021.
2. The proposed variance is permissible by law.
3. The applicant is proposing to use the property in a reasonable manner. This is
reasonable use of the property as it is consistent with the existing facilities and use
on site.
4. The variance will not noticeably change the character of the area.
5. There are practical difficulties in meeting the ordinance standards.
6. The spirit and intent of the ordinance is to allow the training center on site.
7. The property is not located within a floodplain area.
8. The property is served by City sewer and water.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF HUGO, MINNESOTA, that it should and hereby does approve the
variance request for Xcel Energy to allow transmission training poles to be up to 72 feet
in height, where 50 feet is required by ordinance, on property located at 13620 Fenway
Boulevard North.
ADOPTED by the City Council this 5h day of April, 2021.
