SUBJECT: PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING ON A PROPOSAL TO MEET
THE COUNTY PARK AND OPEN SPACE NEEDS
DATE: MARCH 12, 1973

The Washington County Park and Recreation Committee has been working for the
past four months with a landscape architecture class from the University of Min-
nesota to develope a park and open space plan to meet the needs of the County.
The students, as their class project, have done a considerable amount of research
and have completed a basic park and open space needs report. This report will
be presented at a public informational meeting to be held:

Time: 7:30 p.m.

We are looking for as much input as possible at this time for the benefit of the
students who are working on the plan so that necessary adjustments and modifica-
tions can be made before the final draft of the study is completed. Upon comple-
tion of the study the information obtained along with resultant recommendations b'Yill
be reviewed by the County Park and Recreation Committee and the County Planning
Advisory Commission. After this review a special proposal will be submitted to
the County Board for their consideration for inclusion as part of the County Com-
prehensive Plan and Long Range Park and Open Space Acquisition Program.
We feel that it is essential to have as much local input as possible from both the
Governing Bodies of local municipalities and interested citizens. This is your op-
portunity to voice your comments and opinions at an early point while the plan is
still in the draft stage. I will be Looking forward to seeing you at this meeting
and would appreciate any comments you have.
