HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986.11.17 ORD 1986-238 ORDINANCE 1986 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20 , ENTITLED "ADMINISTRATION" , OF THE HUGO CITY CODE TO INCLUDE SOUND RECORDING OF MEETINGS AND TO PROVIDE FOR RETENTION OF SUCH RECORDINGS The City Council of the City of Hugo, Washington County, Minnesota, hereby ordains: 1 . Amend Chapter 20 of the Hugo City Code , entitled "Administration" , in ARTICLE I , section 20-3, entitled "Minutes" to add the following: "Subd. C. In addition to the Minutes required in this section 20-3, every meeting of the City Council and the Planning Commission shall be electronically recorded as a back-up record of what transpired at each such meeting. The City shall maintain adequate electronic recording equipment for such purposes; provided, however, such electronic recording need not be made if the electronic equipment fails to function. Any failure to record as herein provided, shall not invalidate any action taken at any such meeting, provided that the failure of the electronic equipment to function is noted in the Minutes of the meeting. Such electronic recordings shall not be a substitute for Minutes defined and required in Subd. A and Subd. B of this section 20-3, which Minutes constitute the official record of the meetings . Subd. D. The electronic records required by this section shall be maintained as a record of the City for at least seven (7) years after the date recorded, or such longer time as may be from time-to-time required by law or by action of the City. The City Clerk shall thereafter at such times as may be specified by the City Council by Resolution, identify to the City Council by date and content summary those electronic records that are qualified for destruction. The City Council shall take action to approve or order further retention of any such electronic records so identified. " 2 . The Hugo City Code shall be amended to include the provisions of this Ordinance . 3 . This Ordinance shall become effective from and after the date of its adoption and publication according to law.
