ORDINANCE NO. 1977-141
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 314 OF THE HUGO CITY CODE, ENTITLED,
"WATER SYSTEM" TO PROVIDE FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF WATER RATES BY
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND TO PROVIDE FOR SPECIFIC
DESIGNATION OF WATER REVENUE FUNDS .
The City Council of the City of Hugo, Washington County,
Minnesota, hereby ordains:
1. In Section 314-12, entitled, "Discontinuance of
Service" , commencing on the seventh line, delete
the following "together with interest thereon at
the rate of six percent (6%) per annum."
2 . In Section 314-18, entitled, "Water Rates" delete
the entire section, and insert in lieu thereof
the following:
"314-18. WATER RATES . A water use rate is hereby
imposed upon each premise served by the city water
system. The water use rate shall be based on a
calendar quarterly basis, and be established from
time to time by City Council Resolution. In the
event of termination of service before the end of
a quarter, the usage charge shall be prorated to
the nearest month' s use. If more than two
business or family dwelling units draw water
through one meter, the quarterly minimum shall
apply to each unit . A penalty of ten percent (10%)
shall be added to all bills not paid by the date
fixed for final payment ."
3. • In Section 314-20, entitled, "Water Revenue Fund"
delete the article in its entirety, and insert
in lieu thereof the following:
"314-20. WATER REVENUE FUND. All funds received
from the collection of assessments and special
service charges shall be deposited by the City
Treasurer or other designated person, and be kept
in a separate fund which shall be identified as
Water Sinking Fund. These funds shall be used
for retirement of indebtedness incurred for the
construction of such city water system. Water
use charges and special connection charges (314-2)
shall be deposited by the City Treasurer or other
designated person and be kept in a separate fund
which shall be identified. as Utility Fund (sewer
and water) . These funds shall be used for payments
of cost of operation and maintenance of the sewer
system and water system in the City of Hugo."

4. The official copies of the Hugo City Code shall be
amended to reflect the within changes upon passage
and publication of this Ordinance.
