The meeting was called to order by Mayor LaValle at 7:15 P.M.
PRESENT: LaValle, Schletty, Vail, and Spitzer.
ABSENT: Irsfeld
The following salaries were proposed and motioned by council to be
effective February 6, 1978:
MOTION: Spitzer made motion seconded by Vail to set the salary
for 1978 for chief Robert Barth at $17,100.00
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, and Vail.
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: Spitzer made motion seconded by Schletty to set the
hourly wage for Jeanette Charpentier at $3.50.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, and Vail.
MOTION CARRIED
Council discussed the job classification and it was determined that
there was a 10% differential between skills of the deputy clerk and
other clarical employees.
MOTION: Spitzer made motion Schletty seconded to set the hourly
wage for the deputy clerk Mary Ann Creager at $3.85.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty
VOTING AGAINST: Vail
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: Spitzer made motion LaValle seconded to set the salary
of George Koland at $12,600.00.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, and Vail.
Motion withdrawn.
MOTION: Spitzer made motion LaValle seconded to set the salary
of George Koland at $13,500.00.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty
VOTING AGAINST: Vail
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: LaValle made motion Spitzer seconded to set the salary
of clerk Carol Williams at $11 ,872.00 with a review to
be made July first of 1978.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, and Vail.
MOTION CARRIED

MOTION: LaValle made motion, Spitzer seconded to set Robert
Burkards hourly wage at $5.00.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, and Vail.
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: Spitzer made motion Schletty seconded to set the city
business mileage at .150.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, and Vail.
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: Spitzer made motion Schletty seconded to issue a $300.00
clothing allowance to Chief Barth.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Schletty, and Vail.
MOTION CARRIED
Salary discussion ended.
The City Council resumed further discussion on the contract for the police
department partrolmen.
Meeting adjourned at 11 :00 P.M.
