MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE HUGO CITY COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING OF January 14, 1980
The Special Meeting was called to order by Mayor LaValle at
7: 12 P.M.
PRESENT: ZaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld
ABSENT: Schletty and Vail
MOTION: LaValle made motion, seconded by Irsfeld, that Mike
McAllister be appointed acting secretary.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld
MOTION CARRIED
The purpose of this Special Meeting is to discuss City Employee salaries
and Police Department Contract.
MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by Irsfeld, that the City
Clerk' s salary be set at $14,300.00.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: Irsfeld made motion, seconded by LaValle, that Marie
Connor' s salary be set at $4.15/hgur.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by LaValle, that Mary Ann
Creager's salary be set at $4.75/hour.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by LaValle, that City
Maintenance Employee, Mark Granger's salary be set at
$6.25/hour.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld

MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by Irsfeld, that the casual
labor rate remain as established at $4.50/hour.

MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by LaValle, that hourly
employees of Utility Department be set at casual labor
rate of $5.50/hour.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: LaValle made motion, seconded by Spitzer, that the Fire
Chief's salary be set at $500.00/year.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: Irsfeld made motion, seconded by Spitzer, that the Lift
Station Maintenance Employee salary be set at $325.00/month..
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by LaValle, that all salary
increases, except the Fire Chief' s salary, become effective
the first pay period in February, 1980.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld
MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by Irsfeld, that the City
Clerk be instructed to include on the agenda of the 2nd
meeting of July, 1980, a salary review.
VOTING FOR: LaValle, Spitzer, Irsfeld

MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by Irsfeld, that the Union
Contract particulars discussed be sent to Mr. Johnson
for transmittal to the Teamsters Union.

MOTION: Spitzer made motion, seconded by Irsfeld, that the City
Clerk be directed to put the matter of part-time Police
Firearms on the agenda for January 21 , 1980.
