PRESENT: Arcand, Bever, Denaway, Klein, Puleo and Weidt ABSENT: Granger STAFF: Bryan Bear, City Administrator Rachel Juba, Planner Liz Hanson, Community Development Intern APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF DECEMBER 10, 2012 Arcand made motion, Denaway seconded, to approve minutes for the EDA meeting of December 10, 2012 All ayes. Motion carried. OFFICER ELECTIONS The EDA nominated Tom Weidt to be President, Phil Klein as Vice President, Jan Arcand as Treasurer, and Bryan Bear as Secretary for the EDA. Puleo made motion, Denaway seconded, to approve suggested nominations. Puleo made motion, Klein seconded, to approve nominations for the EDA. All ayes. Motion carried. GRACEWOOD SENIOR LIVING — 5607 N. 1501H- STREET Staff welcomed and introduced the House Manager, Steve Niehaus, from Gracewood Senior Living to the EDA. The business took over the former business of Suite Living located off of 1501h Street. He talked about the facilities transition to memory care only. Steve was interested in getting more involved in the community and offered his help to the City and EDA if they needed it at any time. The EDA welcomed him to the community. DISCUSSION ON 2012 EDA ANNUAL REPORT Staff presented the updated 2012 EDA Annual Report to the EDA. The EDA reviewed the 2012 Annual Report and made suggestions to add information about National Recycling Inc.'s (NRI) progress. Denaway made motion, Klein seconded, to approve the 2012 EDA Annual Report with the added changes. All ayes. Motion carried. DISCUSSION ON 2013 EDA GOAL SETTING The EDA discussed items for its goals for 2013. Some of the items included City Identity, decorations along Highway 61, City apparel, and slogan ideas for the City. Puleo made a motion, seconded by Klein, to approve the 2013 EDA Goals. All ayes. Motion carried. UPDATE ON GREATER MSP Staff updated the EDA on Greater MSP's Business Retention & Expansion efforts. Staff informed the EDA about the meetings Greater MSP will hold that the EDA are welcome to attend. UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT Staff updated the EDA on downtown redevelopment. Bill Lentsch is working on finding investors for his development proposal. Pete Sampair continues to update staff of his progress on using the LCDA Met Council grant for planning development on his site. He has completed a survey and preliminary plan for the site. Other items include stormwater planning and a market study. The Carpenters parcels went up for auction and the auction closed. Staff contacted the auction company and they stated they did not sell the properties. DISCUSSION ON EDA MEETING DATE & TIME Staff discussed the future EDA meeting dates and times. The EDA determined that having meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at 5:00pm would be the best time to meet. Weidt made motion, Denaway seconded, to approve the future EDA meetings to occur on the second Tuesday of every month at 5:00pm. All ayes. Motion carried. ADJOURNMENT Klein made a motion, seconded by Denaway, to adjourn at 10:06 am. All ayes. Motion carried.
