HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002.09.11 Parks MinutesParks Commission Meeting 9-11-02 Minutes Page 1 of 2 Hugo, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Open Space Commission Meeting September 11, 2002 6:30 p.m. Oneka Room — City Hall Meeting Chair: Robyn LaCasse Minutes By: Laurie McRostie Present: Kitty Cheesebrow, Robyn LaCasse, Pete Pedersen, Bunny Peterson, David Strub, Bronwen Kleissler, Chuck Haas, John Rask, Laurie McRostie. Absent: Jennifer May, Tom Weidt Copies To: Commission Members, Michele Lindau- Community Development Assistant, John Rask - Community Development Director, Mike Ericson - City Administrator I. Sunset Lake A. A resident has asked that the public access to the lake be reopened. B. His demand is that people are trespassing on his property. C. The commission discussed this matter and no change will be made to the public access. The access location has not improved in a year and the reason the access was closed is still valid. There is no room at the site to provide parking or to create a more stable, permanent access. II. Oneka Lake A. Kitty Cheesebrow is working on the aeration and fish stocking issues. She will report to the commission as soon as she has some information. III. Rice Lake Park A. Rice Lake Park is still being considered as a public works site B. The Park Commission would like to keep this area as parkland. They will work with the City Council to discuss options for Rice Lake Park. C. Any design for the site should include options for the future, including park facilities, park maintenance and park offices as well as the potential for public works. IV. Beaver Ponds A. Seeding the soccer field was discussed. B. Tony Kolnik, from the White Bear Lake Soccer Association, had contacted Chris Petree and seeding was set up. At the time of the meeting the seeding had not happened. C. The City will need to install a satellite at Beaver Ponds Park by next spring. V. Old School House A. The roof on the school house was patched B. Hugo needs to coordinate with the County on the site and consider a grant application for a possible trailhead facility. VI. Other Items A. Picnic tables need to be ordered for Water Tower Park http://www.ci.hugo.mn.us/Parks_Recreation/minutes/9112002.htm 9/19/2007 Parks Commission Meeting 9-11-02 Page 2 of 2 B. The Lions Club would like to construct horseshoe courts in Lions Park. They need some input from the City. This is an interpretation of the events that happened at the meeting.
