Planning Commission: Kelly Bailly. Staff Chris Petree. Consultant: Laurie McRostie. Absent: Kitty Cheesebrow. I. Approve Minutes from May 12, 2004 meeting Weidt made a motion, May seconded, to accept the Minutes from the May 12, 2004 Parks Commission Meeting. All Aye. Motion Carried. II. Approve Park Naming Guidelines Public Works Director Chris Petree introduced the revised park naming guidelines for Park Commission discussion. Weidt made a motion, Lacher seconded, to accept the revised park naming guidelines. All Aye. Motion Carried. III. Beaver Ponds Park — Parking Lot & Landscaping Plan Public Works Director Chris Petree provided an explanation of the parking lot design completed by Passe Engineering. Petree also provided the park commission with the scope of work from Landscape Architect Laurie McRostie on completing the landscaping plan. Lacher made a motion, Weidt seconded, to accept the parking lot design for Beaver Ponds Park. All Aye. Motion Carried. IV. Rice Lake Park Concept Plan — U.S. Soccer Foundation Grant Landscape Architect Laurie McRostie was in attendance and gave an overview of the concept plan for Rice Lake Park. McRostie provided the Park Commission a detailed Page 1 Hugo, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Open Space Commission Minutes June 9, 2004 Page 2 presentation explaining the features included in the concept plan for Rice Lake Park. The concept plan for this park includes: 5 adult soccer fields, 243 parking spaces, play structure, shelter/concession area, picnic area w/ grills, trails/walks to link facilities and trail access to DNR property. Park Commissioners discussed the use of the facilities and analyzed the concept plan. Lacher made a motion, Keithahn seconded, to approve the concept plan for Rice Lake Park. Voting Aye: Lacher, Keithahn, Pedersen, Clarke & May. Voting Nay: Weidt. Majority vote. Motion Carried. V. Oneka Lake Park Updates Public Works Director Chris Petree provided the Park Commission an estimated schedule and a status update for the improvements at Oneka Lake Park. VI. Oakshore Park Update At its June 7, 2004 meeting the City Council authorized Landscape Architect Laurie McRostie to prepare a concept plan for the Oakshore Park Property. McRostie was in attendance and gave Park Commissioners a schedule for completion of the concept plan for Oakshore Park. VII. July Meeting Schedule & Tour Public Works Director Chris Petree provided the Park Commissioners with a schedule for the next meeting. The Park Commission will meet at Hugo City Hall at 5 p.m. on July 14, 2004 and will then tour approximately 10 Park Commission related sites. VIII. Updates A. Planning Commission - Kelly Bailly informed the Park Commission about the absence of a trail on Goodview Av. N. as part of the Diamond Point East & West projects. Staff has informed Council & Commissioners that a trail is not feasible on that portion of road due to the wetland impacts. B. City Council — None. C. Pete Pedersen — None. D. Chris Petree — None.
