Planning Commission: Kelly Bailly. Staff: Chris Petree, Public Works Director. Absent: Kitty Cheesebrow I. Approve Minutes From March 9, 2005 Meeting Weidt made a motion, Clarke seconded to approve the minutes of March 9, 2005. All Aye. Motion Carried. II. Parks Commission Vacancies & Appointments Public Works Director Chris Petree reviewed the Parks Commission interviews that took place on Monday, April 11, 2005. Petree informed the Parks Commission that the City Council would appoint two new members at the April 18, 2005 City Council meeting and those new members would then be present at the May Parks Commission meeting. III. Review & Approve Landscaping Plan for Frog Hollow Park Public Works Director Chris Petree presented the Parks Commission a landscaping and final park plan from Landscape architect Laurie McRostie. Petree reviewed the plan with the Parks Commission. May made a motion, Lacher seconded to accept the landscaping and final park plan for Frog Hollow Park. All Aye. Motion Carried. IV. Park Signage Update Public Works Director Chris Petree provided the Parks Commission with an update of the status on the new park signs. The signs are currently being fabricated by Bill Weigel Signs and will be ready for installation this summer. The park sign installation project is current being considered by a Boy Scout for an Eagle Scout project. V. Park Fund Committee Update Public Works Director Chris Petree and Parks Commissioners Steven Lacher & Roger Clarke provided the Parks Commission an update on the Park Fund Committee that met last on Page 1 Hugo, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Open Space Commission Minutes April 13, 2005 Page 2 Friday, April 8, 2005. The committee continues to work on prioritizing park projects and researching funding sources. VI. Grant Writing Committee Update Public Works Director Chris Petree provided an update to the Parks Commission on the status of the DNR Outdoor Recreation Grant for the park in Diamond Point East. The grant was submitted by the March 31, 2005 deadline and the City should receive a response by July 2005. VII. Schedule Parks Commission Tour Public Works Director Chris Petree and Parks Commission Chair Kitty Cheesebrow have discussed possible dates for the Summer Parks Commission Tour and recommend July 13, 2005. This is the date for the regularly scheduled meeting in July and will be noticed in the City's newspaper of the change. Lacher made a motion, Weidt seconded to schedule the summer Parks Commission Tour for July 13, 2005 at 5 p.m. All Aye. Motion Carried. VIII. Summer Block Parties Public Works Director Chris Petree and Parks Commissioner Jennifer May discussed possible block party opportunities with the Parks Commission for this summer. Parks Commissioner Jennifer May also asked that the City post information about block parties on the web site and the cable access channel. IX. Updates A. Planning Commission — Planning Commissioner Kelly Bailly informed the Parks Commission that the City Council had approved the rural and open space ordinance and that an updated park map would be helpful for the Planning Commission. B. City Council — None. C. Pete Pedersen — Discussed opportunities for additional parkland acquisition. D. Chris Petree — Updated the Parks Commission on the Eagle Scout project for the landscaping of Beaver Ponds Park. X. Other LOCATION — CITY HALL
