Call to Order Roger Clarke Called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present: Roger Clarke, Derek Larsen, Melissa Parker, Noel Schmidt, Russell Schmidt, Dave Strub, Jim Taylor. Absent: Rachel Berger, Dan Gabrielli Staff Present: Scott Anderson, Public Works Director Debi Close, Parks Secretary I. Approval of Minutes of February 11, 2009 Strub made a motion, Russell Schmidt seconded to approve the minutes of the February 11, 2009 Parks Commission meeting. All Aye. Motion Carried. II. Update on Hunting on City Property Discussion Clarke informed the Commission on the status of the sub -committee being formed to discuss hunting on City property. The sub -committee will be meeting soon and Clarke will have a more comprehensive update at the next Parks Commission meeting. III. Continued Discussion on Memorials at City Parks Taylor made a motion, Parker seconded to adopt the Park Memorial Policy draft with change stating Parks Committee has final approval. This will be brought to the City Council at the May 4th, 2008 meeting. All Aye. Motion Carried. IV. Update on Rice Lake Athletic Fields Building Public Works Director Anderson informed Commission members that the Hugo City Council approved a proposal from Landform Architects and Engineers for Architectural services related to the "field house" at the athletic complex. Taylor explained the sub -committee had interest in the structure being LEED certified and built green. Research can be done on grants and possibilities of future educational opportunities at school level if the facility is constructed this way. V. Hanson Property Clark went over the meeting held this week with Ken Hansen and his Attorney Dave Hebert about the property North of CSAH 8, west of Irish Avenue. The property consists of approximately 126 acres and is going to be listing for sale. A second appraisal was done and the price has gone up. Parks Committee is no longer interested in this property for the price it is being offered at. All Commission members agreed the City should continue to look at other properties that are available. VI. Other Parker updated the commission that she had discussed baseball participation numbers with John Petersen the President of White Bear Baseball Programs. The Parks Commission is interested in having him join a future meeting. Adjournment Taylor made a motion, Strub seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m. All Aye. Motion Carried.
