Call to Order
Present: Roger Clarke, Kris Birch, Mat Rauschendorfer, Noel Schmidt, Dave Strub, Jim
Taylor
Absent: Rachel Berger, Tom Windisch
Staff Present: Scott Anderson, Public Works Director

Debi Close, Secretary
Jim Taylor started the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
I. Approval of Minutes from August Meeting
The minutes of the August 10, 2011 Parks Commission meeting were reviewed and no
changes required.
Presentation by Bov Scout Michael Marier
Michael Marier, addressed the commission with request to plant 8 — 15 trees at Heritage
Ponds Park for his Eagle Scouts project. Marier has offered to ask local businesses for
donations and will coordinate Boy Scout volunteers to help complete the work. He also
suggested doing a wood working project to house doggie bags for park goers to
encourage pet clean up at a park.
Dave Strub encouraged Marier to plant the trees in locations that provide shade.
Jim Taylor thanked Marier for speaking to the Commission.

III. Update on Tour de Hugo
Parks Planner, Shayla Syverson gave an update to the Commission on Tour de Hugo
bike event to be held on Saturday September 17, 2011. The ride concludes the Health
Up and GO Wellness challenge. There will be a picnic lunch, le bounce castle,
stretching station, bike crafts and a bike decorating contest. Gift bags will be given to
participants with healthy snacks, T shirt, bandanas and a few extras.
IV. Update on Irish Avenue Park Committee
Parks Planner, Shayla Syverson gave an update that residents adjacent to the Irish
Avenue Park were notified on the formation of a sub committee and that the City was
looking for a resident to volunteer to serve on it. Six residents volunteered, met together
and nominated a representative. On September 6, 2011 City Council appointed Rhonda
Peterson to the Irish Avenue sub committee.
City Staff is recommending the first meeting be held on Wednesday October 5th, 2011 at
7:00 pm at the City Hall.
Strub informed that he was given feedback on the surrounding residents requesting to
be updated with Agenda items and copies of the Minutes taken at each meeting.
Shayla Syverson said she would email all interested residents the information requested.
V. Update on Lions Park Master Planning
Parks Planner, Shayla Syverson informed that staff has been working with stakeholders
in the planning process of Lions Park. The City newsletter invited residents to a public
workshop on Tuesday, September 27th, 2011 at City Hall to be held at 7:OOpm.
VI. Update on Movie Night in the Park
Parks Planner, Shayla Syverson gave an update on plans to hold a Movie Night at a
Park. Scott Anderson, Public Works Director shared plans to construct a canvas movie
screen minimal cost.
Tangled will be shown on September 23rd, 2011 at the Hanifl Fields Athletic Park at
dusk. Games and a bonfire will start at 7:30pm.
VII. Adjournment
Clarke made a motion, Strub seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:50 pm.
