HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012.12.12 Parks MinutesMinutes Parks Commission, City of Hugo December 12, 2012 Council Chambers, City Hall rail to Orrinr Present: Joan Benner, Rachel Berger, Kris Birch, Chris Boland, Roger Clarke, Mat Rauschendorfer, Dave Strub, Jim Taylor, Tom Windisch Absent: Chris Boland Staff Present: Scott Anderson, Public Works Director Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner Debi Close, Parks Secretary Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. I. Approval of Minutes from November Meeting Berger made a motion, Birch seconded to approve the minutes of November 14, 2012 Parks Commission meeting. All Aye. Motion Carried. II. Recognition of Commissioner Roger Clarke Jim Taylor presented a certificate of appreciation to Roger Clarke in recognition of his dedication and nine years of volunteer service on the Parks Commission. VII. 2012 Annual Report Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner presented the 2012 Annual Report of the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Commission. Accomplishments included: Opening of the concession stands at Hanifl Fields Athletic Park Recreation programming expanded Marketing continued via Facebook and the City website Improvements of the landscaping at Arbre Park and Heritage Ponds Park Hardwood Creek Regional Trail Planning started Improve Trail surface/connections at Clearwater Creek, Preserve Park and Irish Avenue Park Master planning of Lions Park IV. Goal Settinq The Parks Commission discussed accomplishments and goals of 2012 and started discussions on what they would like to accomplish in 2013. The discussion on goals will be continued at the January meeting. V. Other Scott Anderson, Public Works Director updated on the progress of the hockey rink at the Hugo Elementary School. The rink has been flooded and ice is in progress. VI. Adjournment Clarke made a motion, Berger seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:31 pm.
