Council Chambers, City Hall Call to Order Present: Joan Benner, Rachel Berger, Chris Boland, Roger Clarke, Dave Strub, Jim Taylor, Tom Windisch, Kris Birch Absent: Mat Rauschendorfer Staff Present: Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner Debi Close, Parks Secretary Jim Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. I. Approval of Minutes from May Meeting Strub made a motion, Windisch seconded to approve the minutes of the May 9, 2012 Parks Commission meeting. Aye — Berger, Boland, Clarke, Strub, Taylor, Windisch Abstained — Joan Benner Motion Carried. II. Lions Park Master Planning Parks Planner, Shayla Syverson updated on a meeting held with Brauer and Associates about master planning Lions Park. Stakeholders were identified and they established attentive meeting schedules. The stakeholder meetings are scheduled for July 11 and August 8, 2012 At the Parks Commission meeting of September 12 the concept plans will be presented to the Parks Commission. Clarke made a motion, Birch seconded to recommend Birch, Strub and Windisch be on the planning committee. It was also recommended that the City Council be asked to have a representative participate. All Aye. Motion Carried. Hardwood Creek Trail & 145th Sidewalk Uodates Parks Planner Shayla Syverson, updated on the City Council meeting of June 4, 2012. City Engineer Jay Kennedy had addressed the Council in regards to 145th Street North sidewalk conditions and trail conjunction to existing path. Discussion included options including replacement of the sidewalk with grass, a new sidewalk or no work to be done. The Parks Commission supported the Council in their plans to hold a neighborhood meeting to determine what should be done with the sidewalk. IV. Recreation Program Updates Parks Planner, Shayla Syverson updated on summer programs. The Geocaching Adventure has started offering outdoor treasure hunting in Hugo's parks. Image Attitudes is holding a free Yoga in the Park on June 18, 2012 welcoming all ages and no experience. Park Play Days is starting June 19 and will incorporate many activities including kickball, freeze tag, frogger, giant rock paper scissors, and many more games in 4 parks throughout the week. The program will continue for 5 weeks. The Third Lair Skate Camp is starting June 26. Skyhawks is offering sports camps the week of August 13-16. Options include the mini -hawk program and flag football. V. Adjournment Birch made a motion, Windisch seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:20 pm. All Aye.
