Present: Rachel Berger, Kris Birch, Mat Rauschendorfer, Dave Strub, Jim Taylor
Absent: Tom Windisch, Joan Benner, Chris Boland
Staff Present: Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner
Scott Anderson, Public Works Director
Debi Close, Secretary
Jim Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
I. Approval of Minutes from January Meeting
Berger made a motion, Taylor seconded to approve the minutes of the January 9, 2013 Parks
Commission meeting.
Strub and Rauschendorfer abstained from Motion.
Aye Berger, Birch, Taylor. Motion Carried.
II. Recreation Program Planning for 2013
Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner reviewed the 2012 programs and information on cost and
participation levels for each event. Parks Commission members discussed dropping the 3rd
Lair Skate class in 2013 with a high cost and low turnout.
New program options for 2013 were brainstormed.
Doa Park
Taylor informed that the City Council requested a Dog Park be included in the goal setting
discussion for 2013. Taylor reminded commission members that former commission member
Roger Clarke was a volunteer and helped in the planning process for the Otter Lake dog park in
White Bear Township.
Taylor made a motion, Birch seconded to get Roger Clarke involved in the upcoming discussion
for a dog park.
All Aye. Motion Carried
Taylor directed staff to get together a list of potential locations for discussion to be presented at
our next meeting.
IV. Adjournment
Birch made a motion, Strub seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:03 pm.
