Parks Commission, City of Hugo

Call to Order
Present: Joan Benner, Rachel Berger, Mat Rauschendorfer, Dave Strub, Jim Taylor
Absent: Kris Birch, Chris Boland, Tom Windisch
Staff Present: Scott Anderson, Public Works Director
Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner
Debi Close, Parks Secretary
Also Present: Nicole Schmid, Roger Clarke
Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
I. Approval of Minutes from February Meeting
Berger made a motion, Rauschendorfer seconded to approve the minutes of the February 13,
2012 Parks Commission meeting.
All Aye. Motion Carried.
II. Hardwood Creek Trail Master Plan
Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner provided an update on the Hardwood Creek Trail Master
Planning Process.
VII. Dog Park Discussion: Location Options
Former Parks Commissioner Roger Clarke shared his experience in helping plan, build and
manage Otter Lake Dog Park in Ramsey County.
Commission members outlined criteria for a future dog park in Hugo. This included parameters
for size, wetlands, preferable landscape, adjacent property conflict potential, and future land
uses/plans.
Taylor directed City Staff to provide additional research on 5 properties:
Irish Avenue Park,
City owned property North of Lions Park
Rice Lake Park
Clearwater Creek Preserve Park
City owned property off Highway 61.
IV. Adjournment
Strub made a motion, Berger seconded to adjourn the meeting at 9:06 pm.
