Parks Commission, City of Hugo
May 8, 2013

Call to Order
Present: Joan Benner, Rachel Berger, Kris Birch, Mat Rauschendorfer, Nicole Schmid, Dave
Strub, Jim Taylor, Tom Windisch
Absent: Chris Boland
Staff Present: Scott Anderson, Public Works Director
Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner
Debi Close, Secretary
Jim Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:08 p.m.
Taylor made a motion, Berger seconded to table the Dog Park Discussion until the next Parks
Commission meeting.
All Aye. Motion Carried
I. Approval of Minutes from December Meeting
Berger made a motion, Windisch seconded to approve the minutes of the April 11, 2013 Parks
Commission meeting.
Aye Benner, Berger, Schmid, Taylor and Windisch.
Abstained, Birch, Rauschendorfer and Strub.
Motion Carried.
II. Athletic Facilitv Studv Presentation
Kevin Clarke from Hoisington Koegler Group presented the results of the Athletic Facilities
Needs Assessment Conducted by the White Bear Lake Schools District. The study evaluated
process, guidance, needs, population growth and service levels to determine recommendations.
Which included more gymnasium (complex), multiuse turf fields, repurpose facilities, senior
recreation, coordinated indoor rink use and tournament facilities.
III. Recreation Program Update
Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner updated with Teen Movie Night being held on June 14th, 2013
and the Great American Camp Out on June 22nd. 2013.
IV. Adjournment
Berger made a motion, Birch seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:17 pm.
