Council Chambers, City Hall Call to Order Present: Joan Benner, Mat Rauschendorfer, Nicole Schmid, Dave Strub, Jim Taylor, Tom Windisch Staff Present: Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner Debi Close, Secretary Absent: Rachel Berger Jim Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. I. Approval of Minutes from December Meeting Windisch made a motion, Strub seconded to approve the minutes of the December 11th, 2013. All Ayes. Motion carried. II. Elmcrest Avenue Trail Options Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner reviewed a letter from the Heritage Ponds Neighborhood Association in regards to interest in a trail along Elmcrest Avenue. The Trail and Sidewalk Plan proposes a city trail along the west side of Elmcrest Ave between CSAH 8 and 180'" Street and connections to regional trails. The City of Lino Lakes has proposed commercial projects that would border the West side of Elmcrest. The Parks Commission discussed a preference for the trail alignment shown in the Trail and Sidewalk Plan. City staff was directed to continue discussions with Lino Lakes and research grants programs for trail connectivity. III. Irish Avenue Park Planning Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner, presented an overview of the history of Irish Avenue Park. Strub reminded the property purchase had goals including sharing Lions events and incorporating large scale community events. The Parks Commission reviewed what the minutes and what was discussed with the neighborhood and residents. Strub requested City staff to review the public meeting notes or proposals to find the goals to be revisited at the Parks Commission Meeting. IV. Meetinq changes Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner presented a 2014 Calendar with meeting changes, recreation activities and special public meetings. The Parks Commission changed the meeting dates as follows: Wednesday, February 12th to Wednesday, February 26th Wednesday, March 12th to Wednesday, March 26th VI. Recreation Program Update Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner reminded of the upcoming events. Movie night on Friday, January 10th showing Despicable Me II at Oneka Elementary School Snow Jam on Saturday, January 11th at Oneka Elementary School V. Adjournment Windisch made a motion, Benner seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:41 pm.
