HUGO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS
JANUARY 9, 2003
Chairperson Schumann called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.
PRESENT: Puleo, Schumann
ABSENT: Brunotte
ALSO PRESENT: John Rask, Community Development Director

Minutes of December 12, 2002
Puleo made motion, Schumann seconded, to approve the minutes for December
12, 2002 as amended.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
Maloney Variance for Pole Building
The Board considered the application of Joe Maloney, 17270 Henna Avenue
North, for a variance to permit a 20 -foot side yard setback for the construction of a
1,440 square foot pole building on his property. The property is 7.5 acres and
located in the Future Urban Service zoning district where a 40 -foot building
setback is required.
The home was constructed 73 feet from the side property line in 1992. At that time,
the side yard setback was 20 feet. In July of 1999, the City increased the side yard
setback from 20 feet to 40 feet. Staff found that the hardship was not caused by the
landowner but rather a change in the setback requirement.
Other than the applicant, there was no one at the meeting that spoke on the
request.
Puleo made motion, Schumann seconded, to recommend approval of a variance
for 17270 Henna Avenue north.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
