HUGO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS
JANUARY 23, 2003
Chairperson Schumann called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m.
PRESENT: Brunotte, Schumann
ABSENT: Puleo
ALSO PRESENT: John Rask, Community Development Director
Michele Lindau, Secretary
Minutes January 9, 2003
Brunotte made motion, Schumann seconded, to approve the minutes for January
9, 2003 as submitted.
Mike Capra Variance for Oversized Garage
The Board considered the request of Mike Capra, 2382 Liebel Street, White Bear
Lake, for a variance to exceed the maximum size permitted for a garage on
property located at 13715 Isleton Ave. N. (Duck Pass). The applicant is
constructing a home on the property and would like to construct an attached 1,132
square foot garage where only 1,000 square feet is permitted by ordinance. The
home is located on 3.3 acres in the Duck Pass subdivision and zoned Agricultural.
Staff found that the applicant designed the garage as a four -car garage with a side
(north) entrance. The portion of the garage facing the street is of the same stucco
and brick design as the home. Staff felt the garage would not dominate the
appearance of the home and had recommended approval.
Schumann said he saw very little room on the lot that would permit him to
construct an accessory building so it was sensible to build an oversize garage.
Brunotte said he felt the garage would look nice because it was of the same
construction as the home.
Schumann made motion, Brunotte seconded, to recommend approval of the
variance for 13715 Isleton Avenue North.
