HUGO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS
June 12, 2003
Chairperson Schumann called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m.
PRESENT: Brunotte, Puleo, Schumann
ABSENT: None
ALSO PRESENT: John Rask, Community Development Director
Michele Lindau, Secretary
Minutes May 22, 2003
Brunotte made motion, Schumann seconded, to approve the minutes of May 22,
2003 as submitted.
Ayes: Brunotte, Schumann
Abstain: Puleo
Motion carried.
Al Parent Variance for Oversized Garage
The Commission considered the request of Al Parent Construction, 3919 Coon
Rapids Boulevard, Coon Rapids, for a variance to construct an oversized attached
garage to the home being constructed for Joe and Lori Krawczyk at 12795
Greystone Avenue North. The applicant requested a variance to construct a 1,192
square foot garage , where ordinance limited the size to 1,000 square feet.
The Board found that the way the house and garage were designed, the garage would
not visually dominate the appearance of the home.
Puleo made motion, Brunotte seconded, to recommend approval of the variance for
an oversized garage at 12795 Greystone Avenue North.
All Ayes. Motion carried.

Pleau Variance for Deck Setback
The Commission considered the request of Don Pleau, 15690 Foxhill Avenue
North, for a variance to construct a deck 24 feet from the property line where
ordinance required a 30 -foot front yard setback.
The home was constructed with a sliding glass door and the Board found it was
the only reasonable location for a deck. Further, the home is located on a corner
lot, which requires two sides of the home to have a 30 -foot front yard setback
instead of a 10 -foot side yard setback.
Brunotte made motion, Puleo seconded, to recommend approval of the variance
for a deck at 15690 Foxhill Avenue North.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
