HUGO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS
September 25, 2008
Chairperson Schumann called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
PRESENT: Schumann, Galler
ABSENT: Puleo
ALSO PRESENT: Bryan Bear, Community Development Director (CDD)
Rachel Simone, Associate Planner
Dennis Fields, Community Development Assistant
Oath of Office
Doug Galler read and signed the Oath of Office for the Board of Zoning and Adjustments.
Approval of Minutes - May 8, 2008
Schumann made motion, Galler seconded, to approve the minutes for May 8, 2008 as presented.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
Brian and Megan Schmidt variance request from the shoreland setback
Rachel Simone, the Associate Planner, described the application for Brian and Megan Schmidt at
12727 Homestead Dr. requesting a variance from the shoreland setback to build an addition to
their home.
Rachel pointed out that this meets all variance criteria and standards necessary, and that staff
recommends approval.
Schumann opened the public hearing.
The applicant Brian Schmidt came forth and added that the addition would not be an eyesore to
the neighbors because neither neighboring properties have windows that face in the direction of
their home.
Schumann closed the public hearing.
Schumann stated that most homes in the area are already located in the setback area and that this
home would be encroaching less than some of the neighboring homes.

Galler motioned, Schumann seconded to recommend approval of the variance to the city council.
All Ayes, Motion Carries.
Adjournment
Galler made motion, Schumann seconded, to adjourn at 6:42 p.m.
