HUGO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS
June 23, 2010
Chairperson Schumann called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
PRESENT: Schumann, Weidt
ABSENT: Puleo
ALSO PRESENT: Bryan Bear, Community Development Director
Rachel Simone, Planner
Dennis Fields, Community Development Assistant
Approval of Minutes — September 23, 2010
Weidt made motion, Schumann seconded, to approve the minutes for September 23, 2010 as
presented.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
Houck — Variance from Parking Requirements
Planner, Rachel Simone, described the application to the Board of Zoning. The applicant is
asking for a variance from the parking requirement. The existing building at 5525 141St ST N is
4,783 Square Feet and is required by ordinance to have 32 stalls. The parking lot currently only
has 18 stalls. She explained that parking requirements in Hugo are excessive and that staff feels
that 18 stalls is reasonable for this building. Staff recommended approval of the variance request.
Schumann asked if there needed to be some changes to the ordinance.
Rachel explained that staff will evaluate changes in the future to the City Code.
Schumann opened the public hearing.
The applicant, Thomas Houck, stated that he had a purchase agreement that was close to being
signed and stated that it is a good business that will do minor changes inside the building.
Schumann closed the public hearing.
Weidt Motioned, Schumann seconded, to approve the variance request.
All Ayes, Motion Carried.
