HUGO BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS
October 13, 2011
Chairperson Schumann called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
PRESENT: Puleo, Weidt
ABSENT: None
ALSO PRESENT: Bryan Bear, Community Development Director
Rachel Juba, Planner
Dennis Fields, Community Development Assistant
Approval of Minutes
Puleo made motion, Weidt seconded, to approve the minutes for June 23, 2011 as presented.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
Blomquist — Variance from Property Line
Planner, Rachel Juba, described the application to the Board of Zoning. The applicant is asking
for a variance from the property line for a deck. The property is zoned R-3 and located in the
Creekview Preserve development. The request is to have a deck 5 feet from the property line
where 10 feet is required. The applicant would like to make his deck handicap accessible. Staff
recommended approval of the variance request.
Weidt opened the public hearing.
The applicant, Lynn and Bruce Bloomquist, stated that their brother-in-law is handicap and
wanted to build a deck that he could access. The applicant obtained a building permit and during
the inspection noticed that it was too close to the property line and applied for the variance.
Weidt closed the public hearing.
Puleo asked that an item be added to the resolution that would waive the permit fee.
Puleo motioned, Weidt seconded, to approve the variance request with the additional language in
the resolution.
All Ayes, Motion Carried.
