STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: February 4, 2025 <br /> CONSENT <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: Approve Hire for Public Works Operator III <br />SUBMITTED BY: Karissa Goers, Administrative Services Director <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />We have a public works operator position open as of 2/7/25 due to a retirement. We posted for <br />this position in December and completed interviews in January. <br /> <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: <br />Should Tyler Johnson be hired as the Public Works Operator III at the terms described below? <br /> <br />PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: <br />The recommendation is to hire Tyler Johnson at grade 3, step 10 with a pay rate of $29.53 per <br />hour. His tentative start date is February 20, 2025. <br /> <br />Tyler has his Class A CDL drivers license and over six years’ experience with the National Park <br />Service, where he operated heavy equipment, completed restoration projects, worked on road <br />and utility emergencies, and plowed snow. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />This position has been included in the 2025 budget. <br /> <br />OPTIONS: <br /> <br />1) Hire Tyler Johnson as Public Works Operator at the terms described above. <br />2) Do not approve the hire of Public Works Operator and re-advertise the position. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />If removed from the consent agenda: <br /> <br />“Motion to hire Tyler Johnson as Public Works Operator III with $29.53 pay rate.” <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />None
