STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: June 3, 2025 <br /> REGULAR <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: Parks Commission Appointment <br />SUBMITTED BY: Julie Johnson, City Clerk <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Parks Commission is established to review and make recommendations to <br />the Council on the future development of city parks, including the establishment of and <br />improvements to the parks, and to make recommendations to the Council on policies governing <br />the maintenance and public use of the parks within the city. The Parks Commission shall consist <br />of 7 members. The voting members shall be appointed by the City Council for a 3-year term. <br /> <br />There is currently one vacancy on the Parks Commission ending 12/31/2026. <br /> <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: <br />Who should the Council appoint to the Parks Commission? <br /> <br />PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: <br />The council held a special meeting on My 20, 2025, to interview two applicants who applied to serve on <br />the Parks Commission. Tracey Peterson was appointed by the Council to serve on the Parks Commission. <br />Since the May 20th meeting, staff has become aware of the resignation of a Parks Commissioner, creating <br />a vacancy on the Commission. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />None <br /> <br />OPTIONS: <br /> <br />Council may appoint the remaining applicant to the Parks Commission or continue to advertise for <br />applicants. <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />“Move to appoint Giovanni Bloyer to the Parks Commission for a term ending 12/31/2026. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />None
