STAFF REPORT <br />1/7/2025 <br /> CONSENT <br /> ITEM #: <br /> <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Marty Powers, Public Works Director <br />AGENDA ITEM: Bobcat Tool Cat & Broom Replacement <br />REVIEWED BY: Nicole Miller, City Administrator <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The City of Lake Elmo Public Works Department has utilized a 2015 Bob Cat Tool <br />Cat for daily park and street projects involving trail work, sidewalk snow removal, clearing debris and <br />roadkill, operating augers, brooms, grapple buckets amongst other things to efficiently complete tasks. <br />The 2015 Tool cat and broom is in service and is need of replacement due to its age, maintenance issues <br />and having met the council approved vehicle replacement schedule. <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should the City Council approve the purchase of a new Bobcat Tool Cat <br />and Angle Broom as outlined in 2025 CIP? <br /> <br />PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: Proceeding with this purchase to replace an aged piece of <br />equipment will benefit the city and its residents to improve reliability, reduce repair costs and ensure <br />expected service levels continue. A Source Well Cooperative Purchasing Agreement quote and a State <br />Contract Quote were collected from Tri-State Bob Cat with the Source Well Cooperative Quote being the <br />most cost effective. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: Purchase of a 2025 Bob Cat Tool Cat and Angle Broom shall not exceed the budgeted <br />2025 CIP of $80,000. This purchase will be funded from the vehicle replacement fund. <br /> <br />The approximate resale of the 2015 Bobcat Tool Cat and Angel Broom is estimated to be around $23,000 <br />through Public Auction <br /> <br />OPTIONS: <br />• Approve purchase of 2025 Tool Cat with Angle Broom and Declare the 2015 Tool <br />Cat & broom as retired equipment and dispose of through Public Auction. <br />• Amend and approve purchase of 2025 Tool Cat & Broom <br />• Deny purchase of 2025 Tool Cat and Angle Broom <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: If removed from consent agenda….. <br />“Motion to approve the purchase of a 2025 Bobcat Tool Cat and Angle Broom from Tri-State Bobcat <br />for an amount not to exceed $80,000, and to declare the 2015 Bobcat ToolCat and Broom retired <br />equipment and dispose of through public auction” <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />• Tri-State Bob Cat Quote (source well cooperative purchasing agreement #020223-CEC)
