MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />January 6, 2009 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission of the <br />City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held on the 6th day of January, 2009, in the council chambers of <br />the city center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said city. <br />Vice Chair Linda Fahey called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the <br />commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Ms. Linda Fahey, Chair <br />Ms. Ruth Steinwall <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />Mr. Tom Maida <br />Ms. Katie Lolmaugh <br />Mr. Dan Slain <br />Ms. Patti Sullivan <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant <br />Ms. Dotty Norgard, Recording Secretary <br />Mr. Jim Morelan, Park & Recreation Director <br />All in attendance introduced themselves and gave a brief description of their background. <br />Vice Chair Fahey opened the floor for nominations for Chair and Vice Chair for 2009. Slain <br />asked if there were any volunteers for the position. Fahey stated she would accept the Chair position. <br />Hearing uo further nominations, Fahey was appointed the Chair. Steinwall volunteered for the Vice <br />Chair. She accepted the position. <br />MINUTES: Steinert made a motion to approve the November 2008 minutes, seconded by Steinwall. Motion <br />carried 7-0. Steinwall made a motion to accept the December 2008 minutes, seconded by Maida. <br />Motion carried 7-0. <br />NEW <br />BUSINESS: COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE: <br />Sanders provided everyone with a copy of the updated Preliminary Draft of the Park System <br />Comprehensive Plan. Sanders explained that the last Comprehensive Park Plan was done in 1991. <br />The Metropolitan Council dictates that the City complete a Comprehensive Plan every ten years. The <br />Park System portion of the Comp Plan includes a summary of the parks and their facilities and a fold- <br />out map showing the locations of our entire parks system. The purpose of the plan is to provide a <br />long-term vision of the goals and policies for the park and trail system within the city. Sanders asked <br />all the commissioners to review the entire plan and respond back to him or Jim Morelan with any <br />suggestions or changes. <br />Page I of 4 <br />
