In 2000, this topic was discussed by the Parks &
Recreation Commission and the City Council. At that time, it was decided to post such streets
as "no parking" due to pedestrian safety. Since then, a few complaints from residents living on
such streets have been received. Their complaints basically have to do with the ability to have
impromptu gatherings with guests parking on the street. In this situation, there would not be
time to obtain a parking permit from the city.
Sackett Glaser stated that pedest~7an safety must be top priority; therefore, her opinion about the
on-street parking restrictions has not changed. She stated that she would prefer an off-street
hail, but since that is not an option right now, parking restrictions should remain as long as the
city considers these areas part of its trail system. Gray agreed stating that residents can parkin
their driveways or else obtain a parking permit from the city.
Page I of 4
