Divine, David Piggott (Anoka County Partners) <br />GENERAL/MINUTES <br />Minutes of May 4, 2006 were approved. <br />NATURES REFUGE JOINT MEETING <br />Members discussed the information presented at the joint council/advisory board meeting <br />regarding the proposed Nature’s Refuge. Members were in general consensus that is was a <br />positive direction for housing development in the city. <br />ANOKA COUNTY PARTNERS <br />David Piggott, director of the newly formed Anoka County Partners (ACP), spoke to members <br />regarding the new vision and goals of the economic development organization. It was formed to <br />assist cities in Anoka County with attracting new businesses.He noted that ACP was moving in <br />a different direction that the former Anoka County Economic Development Partnership, headed <br />by Roger Jensen (former EDAC member). The former partnership concentrated on finding <br />investors for start up high tech companies, which were incubated in a building in Columbia <br />Heights. <br />He discussed major Anoka County initiatives such as light rail, reconstruction of Hwy. 65, <br />sewage treatment in East Bethel as issues that needed lobbying efforts at the legislature.He <br />noted that they have new offices in Coon Rapids, and will be setting up a website, hiring a <br />research manager and marketing person. <br />The ACP is expected to be funded 1/3 by Anoka County, 1/3 by private investment, and 1/3 by <br />participating cities. Anoka County has dedicated $100,000 for 2006 from general revenues. <br />Cities are being asked to dedicate $.50 per capita. Lino Lakes contribution would amount to <br />$9,362.50. <br />Other cities that have already agreed to participate are: Centerville, Columbus, St. Francis and <br />Ramsey. Other cities are considering it for their 2007 budgets.
