Worthington had sent a flyer to all residents of the Grove neighborhood describing the <br />equipment and received positive feedback. Mayor Gehrz indicated there are more families moving into <br />the neighborhood with young children and residents at 1666 Coffman use the park with their <br />grandchildren. Councilmember Kuettel made a motion to approve purchase and installation of the play <br />equipment at a cost of $20,798.93. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Evaluation of Citv Administrator <br />Mayor Gehrz indicated that Administrator Worthington's six month evaluation had been completed. <br />Gehrz said Worthington has undertaken the position at a time when the city is undergoing the sale of <br />two of its taxpaying businesses and one shopping center and also has dealt with some challenges during <br />the Larpenteur Avenue and alley reconstruction jobs this past summer. Councilmember Talbot moved <br />to remove Worthington from probationary status and a 5% raise retroactive to the first pay period in <br />October. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Membership in the Midway Chamber of Commerce <br />• Administrator Worthington said the city has been extended an offer of membership to the Midway <br />Chamber of Commerce. This chamber represents businesses in the Midway area of St. Paul and <br />Minneapolis as well as several Falcon Heights and Roseville businesses. Worthington feels the city <br />could benefit from making valuable contacts in the business, property development and non-profit <br />communities. Councilmember Kuettel moved to approve expenditure of $160.00 for aone-year trial <br />basis membership in the Midway Chamber of Commerce. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Approval of capital expenditure for sidewalk repair and/or replacement in the amount of $9,360.00 <br />Administrator Worthington said the city requested bids for sidewalk repair in the Northome area this <br />year and received one bid. The bid was from Midwest Concrete Driveway in the amount of $9,360.00 <br />which will enable the city to repair or replace 1,298 square feet of sidewalk. The work is expected to <br />be completed this fall. Councilmember Kuettel moved to approve the expenditure of $9,360.00 for the <br />repair and/or replacement of sidewalks in the Northome neighborhood. The motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />Improved lighting for council chamber <br />Administrator Worthington noted the council chambers has no natural light and is quite dark. Staff <br />solicited proposals from lighting contractors to increase the amount of light and recommends the <br />proposal from Muska Electric Co. Their proposal was for $3,105.00 to furnish and install 19 fixtures to <br />• <br />
