This one-time request is made to compliment the Minnesota League of Human
Rights contribution toward Gwen's attendance at the conference. The commission
feels that the city would benefit from Gwen's additional training in human rights.
Gehrz moved to approve the $100 contribution and the motion carried unanimously.
CONSIDERATION OF LEAGUE OF MINNESOTA CITIES (LMC) INSURANCE FOR OPEN
MEETING LAW FOR MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS
The League of Minnesota Cities recently made an insurance policy available
for the city to purchase to cover a portion of the legal expenses defending city officials
who are challenged with a violation of the open meeting law. The challenged elected
official hires an attorney for his/her defense. The LMC plan reimburses the challenged
elected official for legal expenses up to 80% of the cost, but not to exceed $20,000.
The cost of the policy for the mayor and council is $500/year. After weighing the
pros and cons, Hustad moved to purchase the open meeting insurance policy from the
League of Minnesota Cities and motion carried unanimously.
MEETING ADJOURNED AT 9:06 P.M.
,~
,, Tom Baldwin, Mayor
V `; i
~ _ _ r,
\~~_ ~ t~-t,~
Patricia Phillips, Interim Seca ary
