MINUTES <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MARCH 6 , 19 91 <br />Baldwin called the meeting to order at 8:00 P.M. <br />PRESENT <br />Baldwin, Ciernia and Gehrz. Also present were Wiessner and <br />Chenoweth. <br />ABSENT <br />Jacobs and Wallin. (Both arrived later) <br />PRESENTATION BY EXECUTIVE SEARCH CONSULTANT JAMES BRIMEYER <br />Mr. Brimeyer, representing Sathe and Associates Executive Search <br />Consultants, was in attendance to present possible options for <br />hiring an interim or full time City Administrator to replace <br />Administrator Wiessner who has tendered her resignation. He <br />offered his service if Council deems such a service necessary. <br />WALLIN ARRIVES <br />Wallin arrived at 8:10 P.M. <br />FUNDS ALLOCATED FOR RECOGNITION PARTY FOR WIESSNER <br />Council concurred that a recognition party should be held which <br />would require funding. Ciernia moved that up to $500.00 be <br />allocated for the event, such amount to come from the <br />Contingency Fund. Motion carried unanimously. <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR JANET WIESSNER'S RESIGNATION ACCEPTED <br />Council briefly discussed Wiessner's resignation due to her <br />acceptance of another position after which the resignation was <br />accepted by unanimous consent. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO WAIVE 45 DAY NOTIFICAITON REQUIREMENT <br />Wiessner presented a request that the 45 day notification <br />requirement in the employment contract be waived to enable her <br />to terminate her duties as of March 15, 1991. Council agreed to <br />waive the requirement as requested. <br />OPTIONS FOR REPLACEMENT OF ADMINISTRATOR DISCUSSED <br />Council discussed at length possible options for replacement <br />such as hiring of an interim person, immediately beginning a <br />search for a full time person, use of a "range rider", dividing <br />duties among present staff, or the possibility of hiring part <br />time Planner Susan Hoyt to fill the position during the interim <br />period. <br />JACOBS ARRIVES <br />Jacobs arrived during this discussion (approximately 9:00 P.M.). <br />Council felt strongly that it was critical to have a person <br />~~_.~' <br />
