MINUTES. <br />JUNE 19, 1991 <br />PAGE 4 <br />Council unanimously granted approval of the Rescue Squad's ~ ~~ <br />request that they be allowed to provide rescue support to the <br />Special Olympics at the Fairgrounds, July 17 - July 27. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT TO USE OLD IDAHO/SNELLING PARK BUILDING FOR A <br />SMOKE DRILL <br />Hoyt explained that the Department has requested permission to <br />conduct a smoke drill in the present park building which will <br />shortly be demolished to make way for the new structure and <br />noted that the "Smoke Fluid" used for training has no odor nor <br />does it leave soot. Council granted the request with <br />conditions which would avoid neighborhood confusion and <br />disruptions and stipulates that the drills cannot adversly <br />impact the park project which is due to start in the near <br />future. <br />DAVID KRIESEL APPOINTED CITY PLUMBING INSPECTOR <br />Council approved the appointment of David Kriesel as City <br />Plumbing Inspector as recommended by Hoyt. <br />PROPOSED ORDINANCE BAND7ING SALE OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS FROM VENDING <br />MACHINES AND SELF SERVICE OF INDIVIDUAL PACKAGES <br />Council discussed the ordinance proposed by the Mayor's <br />Commission Against Drugs which is aimed at reducing or <br />eliminating the availability of tobacco products from possession <br />and use by juveniles. Council reviewed an Ordinance prepared by <br />City Staff which would incorporate into the present City Code <br />sections banning smoking materials being sold from vending <br />machines and requiring businesses to sell all smoking materials <br />from behind the sales counter and prohibiting self service of <br />individual or single packages. Gehrz suggested that tobacco <br />license fees be researched as there might be more enforcement <br />costs connected with the new regulations.
