MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JANUARY 25, 1984 <br />PAGE 2 <br />Mayor Eggert presented a request for placement of signs on the building <br />at 1601 W. Larpenteur (Hermes Center) in addition to the sign atop the <br />building. Following a short discussion, Mayor Eggert moved, seconded by <br />Councilmember Chestovich, that tenants of the building be allowed to use <br />either a sign on the building or the sign atop the building (as previously <br />allowed by variance) but not both. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Chestovich moved, seconded by Councilmember Baldwin, that <br />Resolution 84-5 be adopted. Motion carried unanimously. <br />RESOLUTION 84-5 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL <br />TO IMPLEMENT THE SOLAR BANK DEFERRED LOAN PROGRAM <br />WITHIN THE CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS <br />1 <br /> <br />Mayor Eggert presented the latest. drawings from the Department of <br />Transportation for the Snelling Avenue reconstruction, and also a <br />drawing showing the accident record on Snelling in Falcon Heights. <br />He explained that in view of the high accident rate at the Crawford/ <br />Snelling intersection, MN/DOT had been approached regarding the <br />possibility of a traffic light at that intersection, MN/DOT refused <br />to consider the placement of a signal at Crawford and Snelling due <br />to the short distance between that intersection and Larpenteur and <br />Snelling. Engineer Schunicht addressed various aspects of the problem <br />and the proposed changes being contemplated by the Department of <br />Transportation. Council then reviewed the drawings and discussed the <br />matter at length. It was then deferred to the February 8, 1984 meeting <br />to allow Engineer Schunicht time to study the problem and come back <br />with recommendations. <br />r <br />REQUEST FOR <br />ADDITIONAL <br />SIGNING ON <br />HERME S <br />BUILDING <br />DENIED <br />RESOLUTION <br />84-5 <br />SNELLING <br />AVENUE <br />DISCUSSION <br />Engineer Schunicht explained that since Falcon Heights has the smallest RICE CREEK <br />area in the Rice Creek Watershed District that he did not feel it would WATERSHED <br />be worth the expenditure for the City to send an engineer to the Water- SURFACE <br />shed meetings, however, he would be willing to serve not as an active membe rWATER <br />but as a corresponding member. C ouncil agreed and requested that copies COMMUNITIES <br />of all correspondence be forwarde d to the City Office. Council authorized <br />the Clerk Administrator to serve on the Technical Advisory Committee and <br />a request for applicants to serve on the Citizen's Advisory Committee will <br />be placed in the Sun Newspaper. <br />Councilmember Chestovich moved, seconded by Councilmember Baldwin, that <br />Check 4610372 dated January 13, 1984, issued to Dennis LeMa.y in the <br />amount of $45.00 be cancelled and that reissue be authorized. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Baldwin moved, seconded by Mayor Eggert, that the <br />resignation. of Tom Baldwin, 1716 Albert, from the Human Rights Commission <br />be accepted. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Baldwin, that the resignation <br />of Stephen Hard, 1937 Autumn, from the Park and Recreation Commission be <br />approved.
