MINUTES
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
JANUARY 25, 1984
PAGE 4

1

Mayor Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Chestovich, that the follow- MARY WECK &
ing persons be reappointed to the Human Rights Commission for three year JIM LESLIE
terms: Mary Weck, 1233 Ray Place and James Leslie, 1446 W. Iowa. Motion REAPPOINTED
carried unanimously. HUMAN RIGHTS
Mayor Eggert requested ideas from Council on how to proceed with the re-
writing of the PUD Ordinance. Some suggestions were that Council draft
the ordinance and give it to the City Attorney for finalization, let the
Attorney draft the ordinance, or have the Clerk Administrator and inter-
ested Councilmembers do the drafting. Following the discussion, it was
decided that Mayor Eggert and Clerk Administrator Barnes will prepare the
initial draft for review by the others.
Councilmember Chestovich informed that the Cub Scouts will be delivering
the newsletter on January 28, 1984.
Councilmember Hard asked if there was some means by which agenda in-
formation could be more easily be made available to residents, for
instance, a monthly newsletter. Councilmember Chestovich stated she
had the same question when she was first on the Council but finally
decided that it is up to the residents to visit the posting places for
that information, but in some instances such as the proposed Larpenteur/
Snelling development all residents within 500 feet were notified of the
meeting. Printing and mailing to all residents is not feasible due to
the cost and lack of personnel. Mayor Eggert explained that when Cable
TV is available, it will be possible to show the agenda and Council Meet-
ings on the screen. He also stated that in spite of the recent news
articles, Cable will be available in the future, and that the system
will probably be built exactly as presented in the contract.
Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that he has been asked
to chair a committee to promote a bike-a-thon for St. Judes and in-
quired if Council had any objections to his serving in that capacity.
Council did not object.
Clerk Administrator Barnes reported that the owner of Blomberg Pharmacy
had called objecting to the false alarm ordinance.
Councilmember Hard moved, seconded by Mayor
be adjourned at 9:43 p.m. Motion carried X(
ATTEST:
~--
'~~
DEWAN B.
