MINUTES <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />OCTOBER 25, 1984 <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Kraus-Anderson Construction Co. ~~1254 <br />525 South Eighth St. <br />Minneapolis, MN 55404 <br />A special meeting of the Falcon Heights City Council was called to order <br />at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Eggert. <br />Mayor Eggert, Councilmembers Baldwin, Hard and Chestovich. Also present were <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes, Attorney Van de North, and Engineer Schunicht. <br />Councilmember Ciernia. <br /> <br />PRESENT <br />ABSENT <br />Gertrude Esteros, President of the University of Minnesota Reitrees Housing U OF MN <br />Corporation presented background information on the proposed retirement condo- RETIREES <br />minium and introduced David Thorp and Milo Thompson, (Thorp, Thompson and HOUSING <br />Re.itow, Inc.), and Attorney Jack Klepp. CORP. <br />Mr. Thompson reviewed the preliminary site plan and explained that they <br />plan to position the building in such a way to buffer the neighborhood to REFERRED <br />thesotath and take advantage of the open space surrounding the building TO <br />site. The plan provides for 100 units, 150 parking spaces (part of which PLANNING <br />will be underground garages). and extensive landscaping. COMMISSION <br />Mr. Klepp presented a request for variances as follows: (1) decreasing <br />parking from 2z to 12 space per unit, (2) allowing 16 rather than 12 units <br />per acre, and (3) reduce side yard set back from 30 to 20 feet. <br />Following a discussion, Mayor Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Hard, <br />that the matter be referred to the Planning Commission for their November <br />5, 1984 meeting. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Chestovich, that the Consent CONSENT <br />Agenda be approved. Motion carried unanimously.
