MINUTES SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 25, 1984 PAGE 2 Councilmember Chestovich moved, seconded by Councilmember Hard, that the Minutes of October 10, 1984 be approved as corrected. Motion carried unanimously. «~ MINUTES OF 10/10/84 APPROVED Council discussed a request from Martha Rukavina, 1659 Maple Knoll, for REQUEST a cross walk on Larpenteur at Gortner, as well as a stop light to control FROM MARTHA traffic at peak hours. Following the discussion, Council decided to take no RTJKAVINA action until there is a final decision on the proposed Bradford Schools FOR CROSS project as a signal might be warranted if the school is constructed. Mzyor WALK, ETC. Eggert will contact Mrs. Rukavina and explain the situation. DEFERRED Mayor Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Hard, that Ed and Margaret Sinclair, 1824 Simpson, be appointed to the Park and Recreation Commission. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor Eggert presented a request from Gerry Rivord, 1845 W. Larpenteur, to park a school bus on Fairview at Larpenteur between the hours of 9:25 and 11:25 A.M. and 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Mayor Eggert explained that in the past requests such as these have been denied and recommended that Mr. Rivord obtain permission to park on University property as has been done in .the past. Mayor Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Chestovich, that George M. Hansen Company be authorized to prepare the City audit .for 1984. Motion carried unanimously. Clerk Administrator Barnes explained that the Sheriff's Department cannot have shift changes in Falcon Heights as all deputies must be briefed before going on duty. It is, therefore, necessary that the deputies return to the patrol station. Mayor Eggert moved, seconded by Councilmember Hard, that the 1985 law enforcement agreement with Ramsey County Sheriff's Department be approved. Motion carried unanimously. Clerk Administrator Barnes presented a request from John Sosniecki, former Liquor Store Manager, for severance pay, and recommended two weeks pay as has been given in the past. Councilmember Baldwin felt that the amount should be more generous as private enterprise allows one week per year of service, and that perhaps there should be an established policy on severance pay. Following a short discussion, the Clerk Administrator was directed to contact other communities and obtain information on severance pay policies. The matter will be discussed again at the November 14, 1984 meeting. Councilmember Chestovich moved, seconded by Councilmember Baldwin, that. Katherine Zimmerman's salary be increased to $7.00 per hour as of January 1, 1984. Motion carried unanimously. Engineer Schunicht presented the Feasibility Report on the Grove Area Storm Drainage dated October 25, 1984 and reviewed the cause of the problem and FEASIBILIT' possible solutions. Following a discussion of the report, Mayor Eggert REPORT ON moved, seconded by Councilmember Baldwin, that the Feasibility Report be GROVE accepted as prepared by the Engineer. Motion carried unanimously. DRAINAGE APPROVED Councilmember Chestovich moved, seconded by Councilmember Baldwin, that Resolution 84-40 be adopted setting a public hearing for December 12, 1984 at 7:15 P.M. Motion carried unanimously.
