Hamline, had attended the January 5, 1981
Planning Commission Meeting with a Conditional Use Request to construct
a 20' x 42' garage on the property. Mr. Pipkorn had previously been
granted a variance to construct a double garage 1~' to 2' from the lot
line. The Planning Commission had recommended approval of the Conditional
Use however, Councilmember Larson read a letter received from Planning
Commission Member, Erma Olson, stating that she had further investigated
the matter and felt that the Commission's decision may have been based
on mis-information as one adjoining neighbor had not approved the over-
size garage. During the ensuing discussion Council was informed that
Mr. Pipkorn did not present the Conditional Use Request until late in
the day on the date of the Planning Commission Meeting thus making it
impossible for Planning Commission Members to investigate the matter.
Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert that the
Conditional Use Request be denied. Motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Warkentien presented to Council his proposal to cut-off agenda
items on Friday prior to Council Meetings in order to give Council-
members adequate time to deliberate agenda material.
