MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JANUARY 14, 1981 <br />PAGE 4 <br />.. _, , ~ 4 <br />cut-off be designated as •the Friday one week prior to the meetings.. (The PLANNING <br />notices and agenda items are mailed one week prior to meetings to allow COMMISSION <br />members to investigate and study requests presented to that body.) Mayor AGENDA CUT-OFI <br />Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson that the Planning ONE WEEK PRIOI <br />Commission Agenda cut-off be designated as requested. Motion carried TO MEETING <br />unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that the Metropolitan Transit M.T~C. TO <br />Commission has requested approval of construction of a Passenger Waiting CONSTRUCT <br />Shelter on the northwest corner of Larpenteur and Hamline. Councilmember BUS PASSENGER <br />Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson that that approval be SHELTER AT <br />granted with the stipulation that the shelter be properly maintained. HAMLINE & <br />LARPENTEUR <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes requested authorization to reply to_a_letter <br />fromK & K Hardware, 1535 W. Larpenteur, presenting plans for some PROPOSED <br />str_uct_ual changes at their place of business (which have been checked CHANGES AT <br />by the Building Inspector and Fire Chief and the necessary requirements K & K HARDWARI <br />stipulated). Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Councilmember APPROVED <br />Eggert that the Clerk Administrator be authorized to draft a letter <br />to K & K Hardware indicating Council's approval of the proposed changes. <br />Motion .carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed Council that the City of Lauderdale LAUDERDALE <br />had requested Rescue Service from Falcon Heights. Fire Chief Renchin, REQUEST FOR <br />Councilmember Brown, Fire Department Liaison, and Clerk Administrator F.H. RESCUE <br />1 Barnes met with Mayor David Nelson of Lauderdale and the Clerk Admini- SERVICE - <br />strator was requested to draw up a contract if Council approves. Also RESCUE FEE <br />presented for approval was a proposed break-down~of rescue fees, as BREAK-DOWN <br />such break-downs are required by both Medicare and Medical Assistance. APPROVED <br />After a discussion Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Council- <br />member F,ggert, that the Clerk Administrator be authorized to draw up a <br />contract not to start prior to Marche 15, 1981 (as requested by Chief <br />Renchin) and that the fee schedule be adopted as amended. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />The discussion of final;"payment of Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik & Assoc. BONESTR00 <br />for the 1980 sealcoating project was deferred awaiting information PAYMENT DIS- <br />from the engineering firm. CUSSION <br /> DEFERRED <br />Mayor Warkentien informed Council that he had been in contact with <br />Clint Hewitt of the University of Minnesota regarding a City Hall PROPOSED NEW <br />site and at this time the only land the University might consider CITY HALL <br />relinquishing is the area south of the F. H. Community Park off UPDATE <br />Cleveland Avenue. A discussion was held regarding the problems <br />with that site such as egress and ingress of emergency equipment. <br />Councilmember Steele again suggested that perhaps upgrading of the <br />present City Hall property should be considered. It was decided <br />that g feasibility study on the upgrading of the present property <br />should be discussed with the City Engineer at the next City Council <br />Meeting. <br />~ Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele that MAYOR <br />Mayor Warkentien be appointed to the Northwest Suburban Youth Service APPOINTED TO <br />Bureau for the year 1981.
