Upon a vote being 4/22/81
taken the following voted "aye": Acting Mayor Brown, Councilmembers Steele APPROVED
and Eggert and the following voted "nay": None. Councilmember Larson
abstained. Motion carried.
Councilmember Larson presented for Council's consideration a variance
request from Kenneth Wielinski, 1811 Arona, to construct a fence 312
feet high, approximately 13 feet from the edge of the curb, running 35
feet parallel to the curb. The variance had been reviewed by the Planning
Commission and that body recommended approval. Councilmember Larson
moved, seconded by Councilmember Eggert, that the variance be granted.
Motion carried unanimously.
' Councilmember Larson presented to Council a variance request from Charles
Ready, 1359 W. Iowa, to place a 2 car garage on the alley line (in line
with other garages in the area) and 2 feet from the side yard, and in-
formed that the Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval.
Councilmember Steele questioned the placement 2 feet from the side yard
as that request was not included in Mr. Ready's written variance re-
quest. Councilmember Larson gave the following explanation: When the
request was originally submitted Mr. Ready's adjoining neighbors gave
written approval of the placement of the garage on the alley line, how-
ever, later Mr. Craighead, 1365 W. Iowa, Mr. Lewis, 1354 W. Idaho and
Mr. Apple, 1358 W. Idaho, withdrew their approval due to the fact that
they felt the placement of the garage would make it difficult for Mr.
Apple to enter and leave his garage. During the Planning Commission
discussion it was decided that if the Ready garage were to be placed nearer
the west lot line (2 feet) it would allow Mr. Apple ample access to his
garage and Mr. Ready agreed to accomodate the neighbor.
Councilmember Larson then read to Council a letter from Milton Craighead,
1365 W. Iowa, explaining that he did not want the garage placed 2 feet
from the lot line. Mr. Craighead was in attendance and informed Council
that he objected to the placement as he felt that in case of fire or any
work on the garage there would be encroachment on his private property.
After a lengthy discussion it was suggested that the garage be placed ',
5 feet from the side lot line as orignally planned and Mr. Ready agreed.
Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Acting. Mayor Brown, that the
variance to place a 22' x 24' garage on the alley line be permitted but
that the 5 foot side lot set back requirement be observed. Motion carried
unanimously.
Councilmember Eggert informed that the North Suburban Cable Commission
has scheduled a Public Hearing to be held May 20, 1981 at the Roseville
City Hall, at which time testimony will be taken from interested parties.
Following the testimonies the Commission will adopt the Request for
Proposals. He also informed that each individual city in the cable
territory must hold a public hearing and adopt a resolution approving
the Request for Proposals. Councilmember Eggert moved, seconded by
Councilmember Larson, that the City of Falcon Heights Public Hearing
be held May 27, 1981 at 8:p.m. and that the Clerk Administrator be
authorized to publish the Hearing Notice. Motion carried unanimously.
WIELINSKI
FENCE VARI-
ANCE, 1811
ARONA,
APPROVED
VARIANCE
CHARLES
READY
1359 W. IOWA
APPROVID
F. H.
