MINUTES <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING. <br />MAY 13, 1981 <br />PAGE 3 <br />ti ~~ <br />Acting Mayor Brown opened for discussion the matter of the walkway between VACATION <br />1740 and 1746 Holton running to Albert. Several suggestions for solution HEARING ON <br />of the matter were made as follows: (1) Surface the area as an alley, WALKWAY <br />open it to traffic, and assess the benefittix~g homeowners for the costs, (2) SCHEDULED <br />surface the area with driveway grade surfacing, put up barriers at the center6/10/81 <br />prohibiting through traffic, but allowing pedestrian and bicycle traffic. <br />(this cost would also be assessed to the benefitting homeowners), (3) sod or <br />seed the area and fence on both sides as was done on the Ruggles walkway, <br />and (4) vacate the walkway. A lengthy discussion ensued after which_ <br />Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Acting Mayor Brown, that a Public <br />Hearing be scheduled for June 10, 1981 at 8:00 p.m. for the purpose of <br />considering the vacation of the area, and authorize the Clerk Administrator <br />to publish the Hearing Notice. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Eggert was excused at this time. <br />Attorney Allen informed Council that the City Attorney of Lauderdale re- AMBULANCE & <br />~ected the draft of the proposed Ambulance and Rescue contract and sub- RESCUE <br />mined a revised contract for consideration by Falcon Heights. Attorney CONTRACT WIT <br />Allen then presented his recent revision for Council's review and explained LAUDERDALE <br />his changes. Following the discussion Council directed the Attorney to DISCUSSED <br />send the new draft to the Lauderdale Attorney for his reviewal. <br />Acting Mayor Brown explained to Council that one of the Deputy Sheriffs DISCUSSION- <br />working in Falcon Heights had advised there is no ordinance to prohibit ORDINANCE <br />parking on private property without permission and had suggested that TO PROHIBIT <br />Council consider such an ordinance. The Clerk Administrator stated he PARKING ON <br />had discussed the matter with the City Propsecutor and the Prosecutor PRIVATE PROP <br />had suggested such an ordinance might be drafted. Following the ensuing ERTY WITHOUT <br />'discussion Attorney Allen was directed to check into the matter further PERMISSION <br />and report back to Council. <br />Councilmember Larson requested that Council consider reviewing the City REVIEW OF <br />license fees in the near future as the present fees hardly cover the CITY LICENSE <br />cost of issuing the licenses. The matter was deferred to the July 8, FEES <br />1981 meeting to allow time to obtain license schedules from other SCHEDULID FO <br />communities for comparison. 7/81/81 <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes reported that the League of Minnesota Cities LEAGUE OF <br />Convention will be held June 9th through 12th in St. Paul and inquired MN CITIES <br />as to which Councilmembers will be in attendance. Councilmember Larson CONVENTION <br />moved, seconded by Councilmember Steele, that the Clerk Administrator 6/9/81-6/12/F <br />be authorized to pay registration fees for those who will attend and <br />that he reserve a room at the hotel for the use of those in attendance. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed that the Employee Benefit Adminis- NO ACTION ON <br />tration Insurance Co. has recommended exit signs and fire extinguishers EXIT SIGNS <br />be place in City Hall. No action was taken. S FIRE <br />EXTINGUISHER' <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes requested permission to transfer $17,634.39 <br />from Sinking Account 102 (1959 Watermain and Pumg Station Improvement) TRANSFER OF <br />as the bond ,has been retired. Councilmember Larson moved, seconded by $17,634.39 <br />Acting Mayor Brown, that the requested transfer of funds be granted. FROM SINKING <br />Motion carried unanimously.
