MINUTES <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JULY 15, 1981 <br />PAGE 5 <br /> <br /> <br />Council noted a letter of thanks from Paul Ciernia, Human Rights Chair- THANK YOU <br />man, for Council's support making it possible for-four Human Rights FROM PAUL <br />Members to attend the 10th Annual Meeting of the Minnesota League of CIERNIA NOTEL <br />Human Rights. <br />Councilmember Larson informed Council that the Planning Commission, <br />at their July 13, 1981 meeting, were given a presentation by Greg <br />Felt and Bob Rosa of the Minnesota Department of Transportation and <br />Greg Kittleson of the University of Minnesota, regarding the proposed <br />Inter-campus Transitway. They also offered to give the presentation to <br />Council if desired. Council noted a letter from Fred Tanzer, Regional <br />Coordinator, Department of Transportation, explaining the transitway <br />project. <br />Council noted the Ambulance Fee Report showing the status of ambulance <br />billings. <br />Information from Northern States Power Company explaining a proposed <br />rate increase was noted. <br />INTERCAMPUS <br />TRANSITWAY <br />UPDATE <br />AMBULANCE <br />BILLING UPDAT <br />NSP RATE <br />INCREASE <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes informed that the Association of Metropolitan AMM LEVY LIMP. <br />Municipalities is sponsoring a seminar on the new Levy Limit and local SEMINAR TO BE <br />government aid laws to be held July 30, 1981, and requested that any HELD 7/30/81 <br />Councilmembers interested in attending notify the City Office. <br />Councilmember Steele brought to Council's attention that the recent JOB CORPS <br />newsletter prepared by the Job Corps Neighborhood Advisory Committee POLICING <br />indicated there had been several meetings with St. Paul, Minneapolis, <br />and University of Minnesota Campus Police, and inquired as to why <br />Falcon Heights and the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department were not <br />included. Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, <br />that the Clerk Administrator draft a letter to the Director of the <br />Job Corps Center regarding the matter, and that copies be sent to <br />the Sheriff's Department, the Neighborhood Advisory Commiteee, and <br />Councilmembers. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Clerk Administrator Barnes presented for Council's consideration CHANGE ORDER <br />Change Order ~1 which will provide for re-surfacing the parking lot ~~1 APPROVED <br />at the Community Park at Roselawn and Cleveland at a cost of $871.00. RESURFACING <br />Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson, that Change PARKING LOT <br />Order ~1 be approved. Motion carried unanimously. AT F.H. PARK <br />Councilmember Eggert informed Council that he had received a complaint <br />from a resident regarding the alarm at Roc-A-Fellas. The alarm went <br />off early in the morning of July 4, the deputy was called, but had no <br />way to correct the matter. The alarm company was then called and did <br />not respond for 3~ hours. Since there have been previous similar in- <br />cidents Council directed the Clerk Administrator to contact Roc A-Fellas <br />and request that the problem be resolved. <br />Councilmember Eggert requested that Council consider allowing the Cub <br />Scouts to place a container at the City Park for the purpose of collect- <br />ing aluminum cans.
