MINUTES SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING JULY 15, 1981 PAGE 5 Council noted a letter of thanks from Paul Ciernia, Human Rights Chair- THANK YOU man, for Council's support making it possible for-four Human Rights FROM PAUL Members to attend the 10th Annual Meeting of the Minnesota League of CIERNIA NOTEL Human Rights. Councilmember Larson informed Council that the Planning Commission, at their July 13, 1981 meeting, were given a presentation by Greg Felt and Bob Rosa of the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Greg Kittleson of the University of Minnesota, regarding the proposed Inter-campus Transitway. They also offered to give the presentation to Council if desired. Council noted a letter from Fred Tanzer, Regional Coordinator, Department of Transportation, explaining the transitway project. Council noted the Ambulance Fee Report showing the status of ambulance billings. Information from Northern States Power Company explaining a proposed rate increase was noted. INTERCAMPUS TRANSITWAY UPDATE AMBULANCE BILLING UPDAT NSP RATE INCREASE Clerk Administrator Barnes informed that the Association of Metropolitan AMM LEVY LIMP. Municipalities is sponsoring a seminar on the new Levy Limit and local SEMINAR TO BE government aid laws to be held July 30, 1981, and requested that any HELD 7/30/81 Councilmembers interested in attending notify the City Office. Councilmember Steele brought to Council's attention that the recent JOB CORPS newsletter prepared by the Job Corps Neighborhood Advisory Committee POLICING indicated there had been several meetings with St. Paul, Minneapolis, and University of Minnesota Campus Police, and inquired as to why Falcon Heights and the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department were not included. Councilmember Steele moved, seconded by Mayor Warkentien, that the Clerk Administrator draft a letter to the Director of the Job Corps Center regarding the matter, and that copies be sent to the Sheriff's Department, the Neighborhood Advisory Commiteee, and Councilmembers. Motion carried unanimously. Clerk Administrator Barnes presented for Council's consideration CHANGE ORDER Change Order ~1 which will provide for re-surfacing the parking lot ~~1 APPROVED at the Community Park at Roselawn and Cleveland at a cost of $871.00. RESURFACING Mayor Warkentien moved, seconded by Councilmember Larson, that Change PARKING LOT Order ~1 be approved. Motion carried unanimously. AT F.H. PARK Councilmember Eggert informed Council that he had received a complaint from a resident regarding the alarm at Roc-A-Fellas. The alarm went off early in the morning of July 4, the deputy was called, but had no way to correct the matter. The alarm company was then called and did not respond for 3~ hours. Since there have been previous similar in- cidents Council directed the Clerk Administrator to contact Roc A-Fellas and request that the problem be resolved. Councilmember Eggert requested that Council consider allowing the Cub Scouts to place a container at the City Park for the purpose of collect- ing aluminum cans.
